Tamilar Inc. is a not‑for‑profit, apolitical, and secular community organisation based in Victoria, Australia. Founded in 2011, our purpose is rooted in three core pillars: language, tradition, and culture. Through these values, we work to preserve and grow the rich legacy of the Tamil language and heritage in Melbourne and beyond.

Tamil discourses

At Tamilar Inc., we host Tamil literature and cultural discussions whenever opportunities arise. These sessions offer a space to explore, reflect and celebrate the richness of Tamil literary heritage. Follow us on Facebook to stay updated on upcoming discourses and events.

Tamil schools

Tamilar Inc maintains a constructive working relationship with the Victorian School of Languages (VSL) in support of Tamil language education across Victoria. VSL independently delivers Tamil programs as part of its state-wide multilingual education framework. Tamilar Inc contributes by undertaking structured community outreach and enrolment awareness initiatives to promote participation in VSL-run Tamil classes. We further support curriculum and academic development by facilitating access to subject-matter expertise from Tamil Nadu, India. These efforts collectively support the continuity, quality, and sustainability of Tamil language education within the VSL framework.

The Tamil New Year celebration, popularly known as CTV, is Melbourne’s flagship Tamil New Year event.

Giving back

Tamilar Inc. collaborates with organisations across Victoria to raise vital funds for farmers and disaster-affected communities back home. Chithirai thiruvizha

Tamilar Inc. has been proudly organising this grand celebration since 2011 and its popularity continues to grow year after year. This vibrant event offers a wonderful opportunity to experience the lights, sounds and colours of Tamil culture through its three timeless pillars literature, music and drama.
